Creative Minds are a charity based in Sunderland with the mission to achieve better mental health within the community by bridging the waiting list gaps for mental health services. The organisation offers a safe, friendly, approachable and welcoming environment where people can engage in a professional, non-clinical service.
Creative Minds received a grant from the Hays Travel Foundation to run a series of workshops for self-identity. Each workshop focusses on a different aspect of support and coming to terms with each individual’s experiences, and each session has a different theme, focussing on using art and creativity to help the children express themselves more freely.
The themes of the workshops have been developed by the young people who are part of the Creative Minds Champion Board, and topics include the likes of managing anxiety, confidence building and mindfulness.
Attendees have stated that they feel more confident when they come to the workshops and that they feel that a support group for teenagers is something that has great significance.
