British Disabled Angling Association
Grant received to support their Schools Fishing Project

British Disabled Angling Association have found that around 1/5 of all disabled who would like to go angling have a disability that affects their physical ability, but the lack of basic disabled access and facilities remains a major barrier for inclusive angling. The charity is committed to breaking down barriers through a range of projects aimed at creating inclusion.

British Disabled Angling Association received a grant from the Hays Travel Foundation to support their Schools Fishing Project. The Schools Fishing Project allows children to take part in fishing activities with adapted fishing equipment, as well as the likes of in-school theory workshops on the basics of fishing and educational training workshops.

The project has had a hugely positive impact on a local school which has resulted in some of the students forming their very own fishing club. The project has allowed the students to demonstrate their newly acquired techniques and knowledge to catch fish during the sessions.
