Hit the open road towards New Jersey with one or two-night stays in Cape May, Atlantic City, Seaside Heights, Ashbury Park, Jersey City, and Morristown. The finale sees you drive into Pennsylvania’s Philadelphia for duo of nights to end your trip in style

Day 1: Washington DC

Arrive in Washington DC and spend the day exploring the National Mall and visiting landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a popular DC restaurant and take a night-time tour of the illuminated monuments.

Day 2: Washington DC

Continue exploring Washington DC. Visit the Smithsonian museums, such as the National Museum of American History or the National Air and Space Museum. Consider visiting Georgetown for some shopping or a scenic walk along the waterfront. In the evening, dine in the historic Penn Quarter neighbourhood.

Day 3: Washington DC to Cape May, New Jersey

Hit the open road for the 3.5 to four-hour drive from Washington DC to Cape May. Upon arrival, climb the Cape May Lighthouse for stunning views of the Jersey Shore. Explore the charming Victorian houses and take a walk on the beach. Enjoy a seafood dinner at one of Cape May's seaside restaurants.

Day 4: Cape May, New Jersey

Spend a full day in Cape May. Start with a visit to the Emlen Physick Estate, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion. Take a boat tour for dolphin and whale watching or relax on the beach. In the afternoon, explore the boutique shops in downtown Cape May. End the day with a sunset stroll along the beach and dinner at another local favourite.

Day 5: Cape May to Atlantic City, New Jersey

Embark on the one-hour drive from Cape May to Atlantic City. Upon arrival, stroll along the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk, visit the casinos, or relax on the beach. Spend the evening trying your luck at the casinos or catching a show.

Day 6: Atlantic City, New Jersey

Enjoy a full day in Atlantic City. Visit the Absecon Lighthouse for panoramic vistas or spend time at the beach. In the afternoon, explore the shops and attractions on the boardwalk, and perhaps indulge in a spa day at one of the resort hotels. In the evening, dine at a fine restaurant and enjoy the nightlife.

Day 7: Atlantic City to Seaside Heights, New Jersey

Get back behind the wheel for the 1.5-hour drive from Atlantic City to Seaside Heights. Spend the day enjoying the Seaside Heights Boardwalk with its amusement rides, arcade games, and beach. Visit Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach for some fun at the waterpark or amusement park. Relax in the evening with a casual dinner by the beach.

Day 8: Seaside Heights, New Jersey

Enjoy a second full day in Seaside Heights. Consider hiring a bike to explore the area, spend more time at the beach, or visit nearby Island Beach State Park for a day of hiking and nature watching. In the evening, enjoy the local boardwalk entertainment and a seafood dinner.

Day 9: Seaside Heights to Asbury Park, New Jersey

Set out on the 40-minute drive from Seaside Heights to Asbury Park. Discover the vibrant arts scene in Asbury Park, visit local galleries, and enjoy live music at The Stone Pony, where Bruce Springsteen started his career. Take a stroll along the boardwalk and dine at one of the area’s trendy restaurants.

Day 10: Asbury Park to Jersey City, New Jersey

Make the one-hour trip from Asbury Park to Jersey City. Once in Jersey City, visit Liberty State Park for breath-taking views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. Explore the growing arts district with its galleries, street art, and unique shops. Have dinner in one of Jersey City's popular eateries.

Day 11: Jersey City to Morristown, New Jersey

Relish the 40-minute drive from Jersey City to Morristown. Visit the Morristown National Historical Park and explore sites related to George Washington and the Revolutionary War. Spend some time hiking the trails at Jockey Hollow, where Washington’s army camped during the winter of 1779-1780. Enjoy a quiet evening with a relaxed dinner in Morristown.

Day 12: Morristown to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Take the 1.5-hour journey from Morristown to Pennsylvania’s Philadelphia. Upon arrival, visit Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell; two of America's most iconic historical sites. In the evening, take a walk down South Street, known for its eclectic shops and vibrant nightlife, and dine at a local restaurant.

Day 13: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Spend a full day exploring Philadelphia. Visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art and run up the famous "Rocky Steps". Take a stroll through the historic Old City neighbourhood and visit the Betsy Ross House. Stop by the Reading Terminal Market for lunch to sample local specialities like cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. In the evening, enjoy a final dinner in the city.

Day 14: Departure from Philadelphia to the UK
