Malgrat de Mar and Barcelona by Express Coach

Tour Itinerary

• Day 1-2 • UK - Malgrat de Mar

  You’ll join a local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then travel by Express Coach overnight to Spain. Arrive in Malgrat de Mar late morning and have time to settle into your hotel for your first night in resort.

• Day 3 • Malgrat de Mar

  Spend the day at leisure in the wonderful Malgrat de Mar.

• Day 4 • Barcelona

  Today you’ll head on a day trip to the Catalan capital, Barcelona, a fantastic city to explore at leisure, with its wonderful architecture and bustling atmosphere. Admire Antoni Gaudi’s incredible Modernist creations, including the as-yet-unfinished Sagrada Familia, and spend time shopping along the famous Las Ramblas boulevard. This mesmerising city is known for its excellent attractions as much for its delicious cuisine, so be sure to sample some of the local food during your time, before returning to your hotel in Malgrat de Mar.

• Day 5-7 • Symi

  On your first day in Symi, you’ll tour the island by boat, travelling along the dramatic jagged coastline, continuing south across the island to Panormitis. Here, visit the elaborate 18th-century monastery of Archangel Michael, perhaps one of the most interesting churches on the island. The tour concludes with a short cruise to the tiny islet of Sesklia, where the Athenians sought refuge from the Spartans during the Peloponnese War. Enjoy a BBQ lunch on the beach, before heading back, stopping on the way in the beautiful natural bay of St George’s. The next two days in Symi are spent at your leisure.

• Day 5 • Malgrat de Mar

  You have a free day to enjoy your hotel’s amenities, perhaps soaking up the sun at the outdoor pool.

• Day 6 • Malgrat Local Market

  Make your way to a fantastic local market to enjoy a wide variety of local specialities, available to sample and buy, offering everything from freshly caught seafood to delicious fresh fruits and expertly crafted olive oils.

• Day 7 • Girona

  Girona is one of Catalonia’s major cities, and today you have free time to explore this city at your leisure. You could explore the ancient city walls and towers which mark the entrance to Girona’s Old Town, plus Girona Cathedral, dating from 1015. This cathedral is home to the world’s widest Gothic nave, although it isn’t the only prominent religious building in Girona – there’s also the Sant Pere de Galligants church, and the Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu. After a day exploring, you’ll return to your hotel in Malgrat de Mar.

• Day 8-9 • Malgrat de Mar - UK

  As your holiday draws to a close, say goodbye to Malgrat de Mar and travel overnight towards home.
