It’s such an amazing island with really friendly locals. Whether you choose Five-Star luxury or Two-Star star self-catering, a holiday there will be an unforgettable experience. One of the safest islands in the Caribbean, you can wander about chatting to the locals, eating in the beach huts without a care in the world. The food is fantastic and the weather is great all year round. Travelling there requires only an eight hour direct flight, so it’s feasible to do seven or ten nights rather than a whole fortnight. Chill the whole time or explore and be adventurous; happiness is guaranteed either way..

Whenever I get asked where's the best place you've ever been to, I always answer the same, Cape Town. From the Majestic Table Mountain to the quirky penguins at Boulder rock, I was completely bewitched by this stunning and diverse destination. Wine tasting, Diamond shopping, game driving and dolphin watching. Take a hot air balloon over a nearby game reserve or maybe enjoy a touch of old fashioned decadence on the outstanding Blue Train to Pretoria. Although the flight is around 11 hours it’s only a 2 hour time difference so no jet lag either. There really is a wealth of adventures to be had.

As I’ve been to over 30 different islands, my favourite always seems to be the latest one - (Symi- wow stunning little island!)-  but in all cases the same facts are true. It’s a very friendly and relaxed destination, everything is “no problem”. I often say that Greece is very much like Barbados in this respect - very friendly locals, great food, and extremely laid-back. As you get into the swing with the locals you'll be whiling the evening away with the odd Ouzo (or Metaxa in my case), putting the world to rights. Greeks know a thing or two about philosophy after all!
