Day 1: UK - Munich
Welcome to Munich, Germany. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting and group dinner to meet your fellow travellers.
Day 2: Munich
Today, you will venture out with your leader for an orientation walk around Munich. You’ll be introduced to the best of Munich’s Christmas markets, from Kripperlmarkt, which has all you need to create an authentic manger, to the Tollwood Christmas Market, Munich’s vibrant ethnic festival. Sip on gluehwein (mulled wine) and grab a grilled sausage as you browse these markets full of toys, wood carvings and candles.
Day 3: Salzburg
Travel by train through south-east Austria to Salzburg. Built on the fortune of its famous salt mines, Salzburg is the birthplace of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves legend, home to the hills from the Sound of Music and purveyor of absolutely everything Mozart. On arrival, you’ll check into your hotel before joining your leader for an orientation walk of the city. In the afternoon, visit the Christmas market in Cathedral Square, before jumping on a cable car to Hohensalzburg Fortress, where you’ll find an intimate Christmas market.
Day 4: Salzburg
Today is free to explore Salzburg. Why not head back to the Christmas markets to soak up even more of the blissful atmosphere?
Day 5: Vienna
Today, board a train bound for Vienna. On arrival, head on a leader-led tour of Vienna. Later in the afternoon, venture to the Christmas market in front of the City Hall to browse the markets, sip on Christmas punch, and snack on some freshly baked cinnamon biscuits.
Day 6: Vienna
You have the whole day to explore Vienna at your leisure, so perhaps head to Schoenbrunn Palace or explore one of the 12 Christmas markets dotted around the city.
Day 7: Budapest
Today, you will travel by train to Budapest, the ‘Pearl of the Danube’. First, enjoy a short orientation walk of the city and then head to the main Christmas markets in Vorosmarty Square. Here, every streetlight, tree, and market stall are lit up, which gives the area a true Christmas feel. Taste the different Hungarian food and enjoy the markets with mulled wine or a shot of Hungarian palinka.
Day 8: Budapest - UK
Your Christmas Market adventure comes to an end today. Travel back to the UK with Christmas memories to savour.
