Hit the open road on an amazing 13-night camper van holiday that takes you via the 790-kilometre-long Pacific Highway; from the New South Wales’s capital of Sydney to Queensland’s capital of Brisbane. Suggested stops along the route of your camper van adventure include the eclectic mix of sights and attractions of the Hunter Valley, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, and the Gold Coast.
Days One to Two: Sydney
Fly from London Heathrow via Hong Kong to Sydney where you’ll check into Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney for a one-night room-only stay. Take time to explore Sydney Harbour with its Opera House and Harbour Bridge or ride to the top of Sydney Tower Eye for amazing cityscapes and to meet the challenge of the Skywalk. Head across to Darling Harbour and visit Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and Wild Life Sydney Zoo, before exploring the city's history at the nearby Rocks area and Rocks Discovery Museum. Jump on a ferry to take in the delights of Manly Beach and to surf on the iconic Bondi Beach.
Day Three: Pick Up Campervan – Sydney to Hunter Valley – 2.5 to 3.5 hours, 160km
Pick up your campervan: Head to your rental location and begin your campervan adventure. Get behind the wheel and head north towards the beautiful Hunter Valley, Australia's premier wine region. Hunter Valley is home to more than 120 wineries producing exquisite varieties of Semillon and Shiraz wine and most offering cellar door wine tastings and vineyard tours. Not forgetting the chance to enjoy some of the Hunter Valley’s best food, explore Hunter Valley Gardens, and check out the abundant local artisan shops.
Days Four to Five: Explore Hunter Valley
Continue your exploration of the Hunter Valley. Perhaps head south to hike part of the Great North Walk in Watagans National Park or to the southwest to stroll along Yengo National Park’s 6km Yango Walking Track. Go horse riding across the Molly Morgan Range, step aboard a Segway through McGuigan vineyard, or relish a bird’s eye of the Hunter Valley on a sunrise hot air balloon flight. Stop by Pokolbin’s Watershed Gallery, take a wine tasting at Winmark Wines, and follow the Hunter Valley Sculpture Walk.
Days Six to Seven: Hunter Valley to Port Macquarie – 3.5 hours, 300km
After your extended stay in the Hunter Valley, head further north to the coastal town of Port Macquarie. Perhaps get up close to the local wildlife at the Koala Hospital, walk through the rainforests at Sea Acres National Park, or simply spend a few hours relaxing on one of the beaches. You can also enjoy river activities like kayaking and fishing, or exploring local cafes and shops. Savour a wine tasting and handmade chocolates at Bago Maze and Winery; before finding your way around one of the world’s largest hedge mazes!
Days Eight to Nine: Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour - 2 hours, 160 km
Drive to the coastal town of Coffs Harbour. Enjoy the thrilling rides and banana-themed attractions at Big Banana Fun Park and embark on a scenic hike along the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk. Experience Niigi Niigi – Sealy Lookout’s stunning views, rainforest walks, and treetop adventures or follow the Waterwall Way Scenic Drive from Coffs Harbour to Armidale. Escape to the idyllic surrounds of North Coast Regional Botanic Garden Coffs Harbour, enjoy swimming and sunbathing at Jetty Beach, and feast on fresh local fare with stunning coastal vistas at Latitude 30 Restaurant.
Day Ten: Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay – 3 hours, 240km
Drive to Byron Bay; famous for its bohemian vibe, beautiful beaches, and relaxed atmosphere. Visit Cape Byron Lighthouse for amazing views, swim and sunbathe at Wategos Beach, or kayak with dolphins, whales, and turtles in Byron Bay’s waters. Amble along the 3.7km Cape Byron walking track via rainforest, beaches, and clifftops or shop for high-end boho fashion at Gypsy Collective and Zulu & Zephyr. Experience the surf culture and tasty beer at Stone and Wood Brewery, catch some live music at The Rails Hotel, or dance to late-night tunes at Woody’s Surf Shack.
Days Eleven to Twelve: Byron Bay to Gold Coast – 1.5 hours, 90km
Drive to the Gold Coast - one of Australia's most famous holiday destinations, known for its theme parks, beaches, and nightlife. Enjoy beach life at Surfers Paradise, get your thrills on Dreamworld’s The Tower of Terror 2, and see your favourite films come to life at Warner Bros. Movie World. Ride down the fun-filled water slides at WhiteWater World and Wet‘n’Wild. Meet the challenge of the SkyPoint Climb or even go skydiving over the Gold Coast for the ultimate thrill. For nature lovers, explore nearby hinterland areas like Lamington National Park.
Day 13: Gold Coast to Brisbane – 1 hour, 80km
Head towards Brisbane and look forward to the scenic sights as you approach Moreton Bay. Take time to visit South Bank Parklands, get interactive at Queensland Museum and Sciencentre, or walk over the Story Bridge. Connect with Aboriginal culture at the immersive experience of Spirits of Red Sand or see everything from moving sculptures to abstract pieces at the Art and River Publish Art Trail. Explore local markets, have a picnic in the Botanic Gardens, or wine and dine at Howard Smith Wharves.
Day 14: Explore Brisbane – Return Campervan
Spend your last day soaking up Brisbane’s vibrant atmosphere, with time for shopping, dining, or relaxing in the parks. Take a leisurely stroll along the Brisbane Riverwalk and explore the vibrant South Bank Parklands with its river beach and alfresco cafes. Go designer shopping at Queen Street Mall and admire views of the city from the Mount Cook-Tha Summit Lookout. Hop on a Brisbane River cruise, cuddle a koala at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, and beer fans can enjoy a guided tour of XXXX Brewery and Alehouse.
Day 15: Fly to the UK
Travel to the airport in time for your overnight flight back to London Heathrow – hopefully with many happy memories to look back on of your Sydney to Brisbane Campervan Holiday.
