Day 1: Arrive Hanoi
Arrive at Hanoi Airport and transfer to your hotel. There are no planned activities today until an evening welcome meeting. After the meeting, you may opt for dinner out with the group to get to know your new travel companions.
Day 2: Hanoi - Ha Long Bay
Depart Hanoi for Bai Chay harbour, the jumping off point for Ha Long Bay, where you will cruise out onto the serene waters on a traditional junk boat. Marvel at massive limestone karst mountains jutting out of the water, creating unforgettable spectacular scenery. Swim, kayak, or go cave exploring on one of the islands, if conditions are right. Indulge in fresh seafood for lunch and dinner, with a variety of dishes to sample, then opt to enjoy a drink on deck under the stars. Drift to sleep in a cosy cabin on board.
Day 3: Ha Long Bay - Hue
Enjoy breakfast and lunch on board before sailing back to the port and returning to Hanoi. Enjoy some free time to explore the city. Perhaps pre-book a Hanoi Foodie Culture Tour (additional expense) for this afternoon. Later, board an overnight train to Hue.
Day 4: Hue
Arrive early to Hue, once the imperial capital of Vietnam. Start the day with a visit to the Tien Mu Pagoda, followed by a visit to the tomb of one of Vietnam’s former emperors. After, opt for a vegetarian lunch at a local nunnery. You may choose to pre-book the Hue Motorbike Tour (additional expense) for today.
Day 5: Hue - Hoi An
Depart Hue and cross the Hai Van Pass (weather permitting), with fantastic views in all directions, before arriving to Hoi An in the afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this charming town.
Days 6-7: Hoi An
Explore all Hoi An has to offer. Dive into the culture, hang out on the beach, or get clothes tailor-made in one of the many shops around town. There are many optional activities to take advantage of during your time in Hoi An, including cooking classes, riverboat trips, bike rides, and tours to the My Son Ruins (additional expense).
Day 8: Hoi An - Ho Chi Minh City
Depart Hoi An and transfer to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City, once the capital of South Vietnam and the country’s commercial centre. Start exploring the small alleys and busy streets, keeping an eye out for lacquerware shops and delicious local food stalls
Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City
Today, enjoy a guided tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels and learn more about the Vietnam War. Use your free time in the afternoon to explore sprawling Ho Chi Minh City. Perhaps visit the Thien Hau and Giac Vien pagodas and stroll through the immense Ben Thanh Market. Also well worth a visit are the Reunification Palace (the residence of South Vietnam presidents before 1975), the city's Chinese quarter of Cholon, and the War Remnants Museum.
