Bangkok is Thailand's capital and is famous for its ornate shrines, palaces, and temples and vibrant city life. Phuket is Thailand's largest island; its azure waters, golden beaches, spicy cuisine, excellent water sports, and warm, sunny days year-round draw the crowds. Patong Beach is island's longest and busiest or discover the lesser-developed 3.5km-long Karon Beach and the lovely curving bay of Kata Beach. Go snorkelling or diving in the offshore waters rich in colourful coral, tropical fish, sea turtles, and manta rays. Take a boat trip to James Bond Island and Koh Panyee in Phang Nga Bay.
