 our Mansfield branch

Stephen from our Mansfield branch recently returned from an educational trip to Romania! From sampling local delicacies to visiting some of the countries most historic sights, Stephen tells us all about his exciting adventure...

"With Titan's VIP Door-to-Door service we were taken care of every step of the way on our trip! After getting picked up at home we were transported to Heathrow airport in modern, executive vehicles. There, we were met by a Titan rep who helped us check-in before we boarded our flight. We enjoyed a smooth journey and soon landed in Bucharest airport where we met up with our Titan Tour Manager, Daniela.

Our first full day was jam packed with exciting outings! The morning saw us visiting Ceausescu's House and the Ethnographic Village Museum (both of which were optional). Before moving on to tour the Parliament Palace, including a visit to the Senate Chamber too. We then headed on a guided tour of Bucharest's grand Old Town which allowed us to appreciate the stunning architecture the city has to offer. On the evening we were treated to a local-style meal with a traditional folklore show providing the nights entertainment.

The next day's early start saw us head away from the capital and the plains towards the mountains and Transylvania. We stopped on the way at Peles Castle, a beautiful example of local architecture before grabbing a quick bite to eat at a local winery, and of course, we made the most of the opportunity to do some wine-tasting. We then carried on our journey to Brasov where we arrived late afternoon. After a busy day exploring we made the most of some free time and delved into all the facilities the hotel had to offer including the spa, pool and sauna.

The following day, we had the pleasure of admiring some splendid examples of medieval architecture. We visited Prejmer Fortified Church and Sighisoara Medieval Village - the birthplace of Vlad Dracul, or Vlad the Impaler. Our evening meal at a local restaurant allowed us to sample traditional cuisine and wines while enjoying the ambience of another folklore show.

Our last day was an emotional one as we visited the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, who look after bears who have been in held and abused in captivity. Their work and commitment of this completely voluntary organisation is outstanding.

Following this we toured the Old Town of Brasov, visiting some iconic places such as the old gates to the town and the Black Church. We welcomed a bit of free time where we had the chance to explore the beautiful streets, charming boutiques and cosy cafes. The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying an excursion to Bran Castle - the structure and legend of Vlad the Impaler that inspired Bram Stoker to write his famous novel, Dracula.

Our trip sadly came to an end and we headed home early the next morning. Our tour manager arranged for the hotel to prepare an early breakfast for us before we left which was very much appreciated. Upon arrival back at Heathrow airport, our VIP drivers were waiting to take us home after an amazing tour of Romania.

This tour is ideal for anyone interested in scenery, history, culture and literature. There was a big contrast between the built-up city of Bucharest, with its bustling streets, tower blocks, museums, great nightlife and eateries, and the alpine feel of the countryside of Transylvania, with it's tiny villages, beautiful woodlands, medieval castles, fortified churches and quiet evenings."
