Spend the day onboard Fred Olsen's Borealis

Date Posted: 28/06/2024

Georgia from our Social Media Team recently spent the day onboard Fred Olsen's Borealis exploring all this amazing cruise ship has to offer! We caught up with her to find out what she got up to throughout her time on board...

"Last month, I was kindly invited to spend the day onboard Fred Olsen's Borealis and have a full ship tour to showcase just how beautiful of a ship she really is!

When we arrived at Southampton Port, we were greeted by the team at Fred Olsen who got us through check in, security and onboard the ship in under 45 minutes! We started our morning in the Neptune Lounge, with some light bites and refreshments, which fueled us up for a busy day exploring the ship. By day, Neptune’s lounge is for daytime lectures and events and by night is used as an evening entertainment venue for various performances.

We then had a tour of all the available accommodation types on board the ship, as sometimes pictures just don’t do it justice. All the cabins were beautifully furbished and were very spacious no matter the type. My favorite cabin was the Olsen Suite, the suite was very spacious and had a variety of amenities, so guests always had an enjoyable stay. One of the many benefits of staying in the Olsen Suite is that guests benefit from the complimentary Suite Dreams Package, which includes; Priority check-in, a welcome bottle of sparkling wine, fruit basket (topped up on request throughout your cruise) flowers or plant in your Suite, afternoon canapé service and so much more!

Following our morning exploring the cabins, we then toured the ship's wellness facilities. This included a visit to The Atlantis Spa, thermal suite, dedicated spa treatment rooms, hairdressing salon, nail bar and a walkthrough of the fully equipped fitness centre. The wellness facilities offer a picturesque view out at sea, enhancing the unique experience whilst on board.

After our walkthrough of the wellness area, we then had a tour of several entertainment and leisure areas onboard Borealis. This enabled us to experience first-hand what facilities are available to guests whilst travelling. One of my personal favourite areas was the all-weather swimming pool, so no matter where in the world you are travelling the ship has a retractable roof top so you’re free to take a dip in the pool without the repercussion of the cold! But that’s not even the best bit, the pool is surrounded by plenty of deck space, loungers, warming jacuzzis and also facilities for either an al fresco lunch or a few cocktails of your choice.

Before disembarking the ship, we made our way to the Borealis restaurant, which is split over two levels and exudes total elegance. Here, we relished in a 3-course a la carte dining experience, which included fresh bread rolls straight from the ship's bakery, followed by a delicious main course of pan-basted sirloin steak. For dessert, we indulged in a pistachio and saffron panna cotta, which was quite possibly the lightest yet most fulfilling dessert I’ve ever tasted.

Overall, we had an incredible day on board, and it was truly the crew that made it special for me. From the moment we embarked until we said our goodbyes and disembarked, it was a fantastic experience."
