Setting sail in 2024, Icon of the Seas is the newest member of the Royal Caribbean fleet!
If you're looking for a ship that excites you as much as it's destinations, then Icon of the Seas is the one for you! By reinventing how you spend your days at sea, Royal Caribbean are showing there's so much more to cruising than days lounging by the pool (although that still sounds good to us).
So what can you expect on board this floating resort? Well, there's certainly no shortage of thrilling activities to get your heart racing and adrenaline pumping! Try your hand at the 'Flowrider' surf simulator as 30,000 gallons of rushing water put your skills to the test. Whether you dare to stand upright on the board or go water boogie-style by lying on your front you're sure to be in for a fun time.
Looking for something to keep the kids busy? Splashaway Bay is the perfect aquapark for younger guests to let their hair down and get their energy out! With water cannons, splash pools and mini slides no two days spent here will be the same! But not to worry parents, you don’t have to miss out on all the excitement… if you’re a big kid at heart we have just the thing for you. Thrill Island is the largest onboard waterpark with six record breaking slides. Soar high above the sea as you snake around the twists and turns of the Storm Surge or put your nerve to the test on the Frightening Bolt as you take on the tallest waterslide at sea with a 46-foot drop and a 360-degree loop!
Continuing the push boundaries, Icon of the Seas holds the title for the most pools onboard a cruise ship (with Royal Bay even coming up trumps as the largest ever on a cruise ship)! Each of the 7 pools offers up a new experience with a unique atmosphere. The Hideaway Pool provides the ultimate zone for zen and relaxation with the suspended infinity pool offering 180-degree sea views. While Cloud 17 is designed as an adult only tropical oasis with private access to the Lime and Coconut bar, ideal for sipping a Pina Colada while soaking up the sun.
But that’s not all! Crown’s Edge is a must visit attraction for the dare devils onboard. Dangling high above the ocean, will you be able to hold your nerve as you take on this thrill ride like no other? Make your way along the ever-changing pathways of the ropes course onto the skywalk. But don’t get too comfortable admiring the sea views as without warning the floor can give way beneath you leaving you suspended 154 feet above the blue waters where you’ll then be zip lined back to safety. Adrenaline Peak rock-climbing wall has proved a firm favourite as the totally free experience brings the ultimate thrill-seeking element to your cruise! The 12-metre ascent tests your agility and endurance in the best, and most fun, way possible. If you want to let your competitive side shine, why not take part in the speed racing challenge to see if you can beat your family to the top and earn the winners title (and of course bragging rights) for the rest of your holiday.
The family competitions don’t have to stop there though! With the nine-hole Lost Dunes course you can let the battle of the at-sea-themed mini-golf commence. Or maybe you’d prefer to head to the versatile sports court to take on fellow holiday makers in anything from basketball to dodgeball and volleyball to pickleball.
