Discover the Wonders of Prima: Educational Trip
Date Posted: 05/10/2022
James from our Social Media team recently embarked on a once in a lifetime journey through from Iceland onboard Prima, the newest ship from Norwegian Cruise Line! Whilst on the ship, James experienced the modern luxury of Prima and discovered all of the brand new wonders that await her passengers.
With Prima now officially sailed her christening sailing and ready to take people across the seven seas on unforgettable voyages, we were eager to hear all about his experience.
“I recently had the privilege of sailing on the christening sailing of Norwegian Cruise Line’s brand-new ship, Prima! This was my first ever cruise and I didn’t know what to expect. But I was certainly blown out of the water.
Our itinerary started with an overnight stay docked in Iceland before calling at Cobh Ireland, Portland UK, Le Havre France and finally spending another night docked in Amsterdam.
Upon arrival I was shown to my balcony cabin. The room was beautifully decorated, came with the comfiest bed and floor-to ceiling glass doors which led onto my very own private balcony. Some balcony cabins can accommodate up to four passengers which include two lower beds that convert into a queen, perfect when travelling with family or friends. Each morning, I’d grab my Starbucks from the onboard barista and head back to my cabin to chill out on my balcony looking out over the stunning everchanging views. It was the perfect relaxing way to start the morning before days filled with amazing adventures.
Prima was not short of entertainment. As this was the christening sailing we had a very special night. I attended the christening ceremony of Prima, where he heard from the executive team at Norwegian Cruise Line, guest speakers and enjoyed a special performance from Prima's Godmother, non-other than pop star, Katy Perry! Afterall a ship this show-stopping deserves a Godmother to match.
Each night we were gifted with lots of special entertainment. Whether you enjoy dazzling theatre shows or simple nights with a cold beverage listening to the calming music flowing round the ship- there is something for everyone to enjoy on Prima. We had a live performance by Kool & the Gang one night and the next we saw the legendary Chaka Khan! And it didn’t stop there. I witnessed what was one of the best theatrical performances I’d ever seen, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. This is a must watch; if you see this on your cruise entertainment programme, definitely take a seat! Another night we saw ‘Come on Down Live’, a fun audience participation game based on the well-known sensational game show The Price Is Right. Throughout the ship you could walk into a bar and be greeted by live bands, solo artists or even comedy acts going on at the Improv comedy club. It’s fair to say each night brought something new and exciting.
Activities were endless on-board Prima. A favourite of mine was zooming around on go karts at the Prima Speedway, the first three-level race track at sea. It wasn’t something I expected to see on a cruise ship. But it was a unique experience to have in the middle of the wide-open ocean. An amazing feature fun for all of the family. As well as this, there was mini golf, interactive darts, slides and even a waterslide. Yes, I tried them all and can say is you have to try each of them for yourself as well because, wow! You will definitely not be bored on this ship I can guarantee.
I am a foodie and so I was looking forward to trying everything Prima had to offer whilst on-board. The ship itself boasts 5 complimentary dining options as well as 8 specialities. It had everything from 24-hour dining at the Local Bar & Grill, buffets serving up plentiful options for all meals of the day at Surfside Café & Grill to mouth-watering premium cuts of meat at Cagney’s Steakhouse. A personal favourite of mine was at the Indulge Food Hall where a variety of artisanal mini-restaurants and food trucks served everything from tacos to tandoori. Get ready to truly indulge on this ship.
During the day, I would relax in the hot tub with a margarita in hand at the adults only Vibe Beach Club and when night came, I’d have a few pre dinner drinks at one of the many delightful bars that serve unique cocktails as well as all time classics. I recommend trying the Banana-rumble.
My time onboard Prima was unbelievable. With so much to do, see and experience I never felt like I was stuck for something to do. After experiencing my first ever voyage, I would definitely encourage anyone who has never been on a ship to try it out. And if you get a chance to sail away on Prima, do it- it will be an unforgettable holiday. “
