Rubies

Rubies is a charity working across Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland, providing support to young girls in some of the most deprived areas of the North East. The charity is passionate about helping disadvantaged girls to discover their strengths, and to know their true worth through increasing self-esteem, building resilience and staying safe. 

Rubies received a grant from the Hays Travel Foundation to host their eight week self esteem course for young girls aged 10-11 in primary and secondary schools. The self esteem course is designed to help with issues such as anxiety and poor sleep, as well as the effects of the cost of living crisis and high levels of poverty.

The project was incredibly well received by the participants with one stating that "Rubies has changed for me because I have more self-confidence. Also it takes stress away from school and the work."
